NOTE: Added screenshots so readers can see what I mentioned below about some scenes from Buckwild being fake . This is JUST the first scene of the show being analyzed- more to come!

MTV is known for producing super popular reality shows. But just how "real" ARE the programs they air? I am currently watching the season premiere of "Buckwild" and I didn't even have to make it to the first commercial break to question it's authenticity. Having appeared in television shows and several movies myself,  I am excellent at noticing small details most would overlook pointing to re-shoots or scripted scenes on reality shows. Though I haven't even finished watching Buckwild's first episode, I am going to analyze each scene as I get to it noting anything that seems a bit off. Here's my "Scene One" observations:

Drive to Pick Up Cara

- Ashley and Anna drive 2 hours to pick up Cara from West Virginia University in Morgantown. Ashley asks "Why are we the ones who have to pick her up?" (umm..because you are her best friends and roommates, maybe?) and reminisce about their last road trip which resulted in Ashley pee'ing herself. This whole conversation seems forced, as if they are reciting lines from a script and doesn't seem natural at all.

Scene Outside of Boy's House when Girls Arrive

- The girls supposedly drive from Morgantown straight to see the boys at the house. Suddenly all Cara's belongings have disappeared from the car as they exit. They have a conversation with the guys and decide to "go muddin'".

Goin' Muddin'

*SCRIPTED ALERT*: Watch this scene paying particular attention to what they are wearing and accessories. The show leads you to believe that after arriving back from Morgantown, the group decides to go mudding right away. I do not even believe this was the same day, but MTV obviously doesn't want you to know this.

Is Buckwild Scripted? Cara's shirt changes from green to gray, shorts from dark navy to bleached, and hair from red to vibrant.

- Cara is wearing a different outfit..so *slightly* different most people wouldn't even notice. The tank top she is wearing is a lighter shade of green than the one she had on the prior scene. She is also wearing a different pair of shorts. The original pair were dark navy, the pair in the mudding scene are lighters and have bleach stains and protruding pockets.

- Cara's hair is different. At first I thought she may have just taken it down from a pony tail, however you can tell her hair was straighted in the scene before, and now suddenly wavy. Also, the color itself looks different. In the second scene it appears a brighter shade of red, and looks freshly colored.

- When she arrives at the boys' house, Ashley is wearing a pair of small (hoop?) earrings. In the mudding scene they suddenly appear to be a larger pair of hoops. Who would put on a larger pair of earrings when going out in the mud?

The magic earrings! Barely visible studs in picture one, large hoops "minutes" later during muddin'!

- At the boy's house Joey has no jewelry on. In the truck, and when he was on his phone calling for help after the truck breaks down in the mud, he is wearing a large blue bracelet. Again, who would consciously go inside and decide to put on a bracelet just to go mudding?

Buckwilds Fake...because who really would go inside to put on a bracelet before going out to slop around in mud.

This may not seem like a big deal. Who cares if it was filmed on an entirely different day, right?! MTV obviously does. They go out of their way to make sure that all cast members are wearing the same exact clothes (with very slight variation) to make the viewer unaware that it was filmed at a different time, or re-shot all together. It's tiny inconsistencies like mentioned above that can prove that scenes are scripted or had been shot again entirely.

So, IS Buckwild scripted? Just by watching the first five minutes, I already have suspicions! Let us know in the comments if you notice anything!

Want to know if the fight between Anna and her neighbor actually happened, or once again another staged segment to draw in viewers? We answer that, and more in our latest post. Check it out!
